Wirral Met College has continued in its pledge to create careers for students, with an international work placement trip in Spain.

Military Prep students from our Oval Campus visited Seville, Spain, and gained valuable work experience in the Andalusian capital, made possible from funding provided by Erasmus+. The funding will provide more than 200 Wirral Met students with the life-changing opportunity to work and study abroad for free.

Since securing Erasmus+ and funding from the UK’s new Turing scheme, Wirral Met students have been able to go on a variety of international work placement trips including trips to Malta, Tenerife, Granada, and Lisbon, with further trips planned.

Our Military Prep students enjoyed an exciting, action-packed three-week timetable including a week historical tours, rock climbing, hikes, and kayaking, followed by two weeks of work placements.

Students were able to develop a variety of skills with placements working in sectors varying from hospitality to leisure to education. Skills which can be applied to their Military Prep studies and future careers. Students also tried their hand at the local language, taking part in Spanish lessons.

Upon completion of their work placements, students were then rewarded with a BBQ and tour of the neighbouring territory of Gibraltar, before saying ‘adios’ to the sunny, Spanish climate, and returning home.
