The Love Our Colleges campaign is an opportunity to highlight the brilliant work that goes on in Colleges, and the dedicated staff who make it all possible. Our students and staff enjoy getting involved in a wide range of activities supporting both the College and our local community.

Recently, we’ve had lots of charity work taking place with a great sum of money raised!

Wirral Met College students and staff have voted for MIND as this year’s College charity. MIND is a mental health charity that provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health issue.

In October, Jo and Julie from the hospitality and catering department held a Charity Race Night raising a huge £2,200 for MIND. The evening involved food, entertainment and prizes and was supported by the Students’ Union. More charity fundraising will be taking place for MIND throughout the year including Jo and Julie’s next project – a cycle ride through India on a 9 day challenge.

It’s not just MIND who will benefit from our fund raising activities - Children in Need took place on Friday 16th November 2018 to help change children’s lives across the UK. Wirral Met’s beauty therapy students raised money through a bake sale, a guess the number of sweets in the jar competition and by providing beauty therapy treatments for students and staff. So far, they have raised £148.02 with donations still coming in.

We have also supported other charities - in September our Student Services team organised a coffee morning. Staff were invited to come together for coffee and a cake to support Macmillan Cancer Support who are a great source of support for millions of people affected by cancer. The team raised a total of £150.50 for this great cause.

Well done to all involved in setting up these charity events and a big thank you to all who have supported or donated.
